Who is Nushrratt Bharuccha?

Nushrratt Bharuccha (born Nushrat Bharucha on 17 May 1985 in Mumbai) is a prominent Indian actress best known for her versatile roles in Hindi cinema.
She debuted in TV in 2002 with Kittie Party, but her big-screen journey began with Jai Santoshi Maa (2006), followed by a breakout performance in Dibakar Banerjee’s Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010).
Her rise came with the buddy drama Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), but it was Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015) that marked her first commercial success (₹88 crore worldwide), reinforcing her presence in mainstream Bollywood.
She cemented her position with hit comedies Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018) and Dream Girl (2019)—both entered the ₹100‑crore club. In recent years, she explored diverse genres: horror (Chhorii, 2021), social satire (Janhit Mein Jaari, 2022), and adventure (Ram Setu, 2022).
Born into a Dawoodi Bohra family, she earned a Fine Arts degree from Jai Hind College, Mumbai.
In 2020, influenced by numerology, she officially changed her screen name to Nushrratt Bharuccha.
Beyond acting, she’s a published poet, vocal about social issues like female genital mutilation (a practice her mother endured).
