Bhumi Pednekar (born 18 July 1989, Mumbai) is a prominent Indian actress known for her compelling portrayals of strong, small-town women in Hindi cinema. Starting her career behind the scenes—as an assistant casting director at Yash Raj Films—she transitioned to acting with a breakthrough role in Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015). To play an overweight bride, she gained weight and later won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
