Who is Shefali Jariwala?
Shefali Jariwala (15 December 1982 – 27 June 2025) was an Indian actress, model, and reality TV personality famously dubbed the “Kaanta Laga Girl” after a sensational appearance in a 2002 remix music video that became a cultural phenomenon. Born in Gujarat and educated in computer applications at Sardar Patel College of Engineering, she later pivoted to entertainment with bold onscreen charisma. Her Bollywood debut came with a cameo in the 2004 blockbuster Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and she featured in the Kannada film Hudugaru in 2011. In 2018, she starred as Sarah opposite Shreyas Talpade in the ALT Balaji web‐series Baby Come Naa. From 2008 onwards, Shefali was a familiar face on Indian reality TV. She competed in Boogie Woogie, danced on Nach Baliye seasons 5 and 7 with husband Parag Tyagi, and joined Bigg Boss 13 as a wild‑card contestant in 2019, where her candid demeanor and rapport with Sidharth Shukla caught attention. Privately, Shefali had battled epilepsy from age 15 and spoke openly about managing stress and fitness to stay strong. Shefali Jariwala Wedding Overview
Shefali Jariwala and television actor Parag Tyagi tied the knot on 12 August 2014 in a court ceremony in Mumbai. They chose this date specifically because it was exactly four years after Parag proposed to her on 12 August 2010. Initially, Shefali and Parag had planned a grand destination wedding in Goa in 2012. Unfortunately, those plans were cancelled when Parag’s father suffered a heart attack in early 2012. Despite having booked the beach venue, they postponed due to his health, and eventually decided simply to get married legally in 2014. The couple later reflected that their emotional bond mattered more than the celebration itself. Their wedding was an intimate affair: only Parag, Shefali, a few staff members, and staff as witnesses. Relatives in South Africa and Delhi were not physically present due to distance. Despite foregoing a lavish ceremony, Shefali later expressed no regret, emphasizing that the meaningful part was legalizing their commitment—and that if close friends had asked for a party, they would have happily hosted one. In summary: 12 August 2014 marks their court wedding; their destined fancy beach celebration in Goa never happened, but the date held symbolic significance for them.
