Who is Nicolle Wallace?

Nicolle Wallace (née Devenish; b. February 4, 1972) is an American political commentator, author, and television host. A former communications insider, she served as White House Communications Director under President George W. Bush (2005–2006), and was the communications director for his 2004 re‑election campaign. She later worked as a senior advisor on John McCain’s 2008 presidential bid
After leaving government, Wallace transitioned to media. She co‑hosted ABC’s The View for one season (2014–2015), then joined NBC News and MSNBC as a political analyst. Since May 9 2017, she has anchored MSNBC’s weekday news.politics program Deadline: White House.
Wallace is also a bestselling novelist. Her political thrillers include Eighteen Acres (2010), It’s Classified, and Madam President
She earned a BA in mass communications from UC Berkeley (1994) and an MS in journalism from Northwestern University (1996).
Born in Orange County, California, she grew up in Orinda with three siblings, the daughter of a teacher’s aide and an antiques dealer.
Previously married to former diplomat Mark Wallace (divorced 2019), she married NYT journalist Michael S. Schmidt in April 2022; the couple welcomed a daughter via surrogate in late 2023.
