Who is Trisha Krishnan?

Trisha Krishnan (born 4 May 1983 in Chennai) is one of the most celebrated actresses in Indian cinema, primarily working in Tamil and Telugu films. Known as the “Queen of South India,” she first stepped into the spotlight after winning beauty pageants — Miss Salem and Miss Chennai in 1999 — before pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration at Ethiraj College, Chennai.
She debuted on-screen with a supporting role in the Tamil film Jodi (1999), and her first lead role was in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002) opposite Suriya. Her breakthrough came with Tamil blockbusters like Saamy (2003) and Ghilli (2004), and in Telugu cinema with hits such as Varsham (2004) and Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005) — winning multiple Filmfare Awards South and a Nandi Award. Trisha has demonstrated versatility with critically acclaimed roles in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), ’96 (2018), Kodi (2016), and portrayed Princess Kundavai in Mani Ratnam’s historical epic Ponniyin Selvan Parts I & II (2022–23). She also made her debut in Hindi (Khatta Meetha, 2010), Kannada (Power, 2014), and Malayalam (Hey Jude, 2018) cinema .In 2024, she made a notable web debut in the crime thriller series Brinda on SonyLIV, playing a determined police officer .Her career spans 25 years, boasting major awards including five Filmfare South trophies, a Tamil Nadu State Film Award and the Kalaimamani honour.
